This winter Midway Contemporary Art opened a research library adjacent to our galleries. The library addresses a need among arts professionals and
the general public to access information and materials that track,
facilitate, and enable new developments in the fluid world of
contemporary art.
Currently housing 2,500 volumes, the library’s collection includes monographs, group exhibition catalogs, reference books, periodicals, and digital media. A
non-circulating facility, the library serves to support the research and
instructional activities of artists, educators, students, and the
general public.
We are currently in the process of completing our online database of the library's contents. Click here to search the library.
The library is made possible with contributions of time,
equipment, instructional guidance, and financial support. Interested
volunteers and donors are invited and encouraged to contact the
gallery. While the library welcomes book donations, the archive is
curated to support Midway programming and advance our mission of
presenting emerging and underrepresented artists. We maintain
a wish list on www.amazon.com for individuals who wish to make
in-kind contributions.
We would like to offer a special thanks to the following sponsors for
their generous start-up support for the library: Elmer L. and Eleanor
J. Andersen Foundation, BLU DOT, HRK Foundation, Langwater Foundation,
Permlight, and many generous individuals.
Library Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 11AM–5PM
